Aldyen Donnelly: What the CIMS model does and does not do
Dr. Jaccard’s CIMS model of the Cdn economy does not have the capacity to reflect the critical and large differences between the impacts carbon taxes, quota-based cap and trade rules or legally-binding product standards (the three key GHG management options) might have on the Canadian economy. Every green job created ploughs under 2.2 jobs elsewhere in the economy, and that doesn’t account for the indirect job losses to come of the higher energy prices that accompany green energy technologies: Companies can be counted on to flee this green, or should we say gangrene, economy.
